When you download a file, Internet Explorer checks for clues that the download is malicious or potentially harmful to your PC. If Internet Explorer identifies a download as suspicious, you'll be notified so you can decide whether or not to save, run, or open the file. If you cannot download a file from the Internet or save or run it using Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Opera or other browsers on Windows 10/8/7; that is, when you click a link to.

I'm in college and frequently need to download files from our homework website. I used to be able to click on the link, it'd download at the bottom of my screen, and then I could click on the download and it would open no problem. Now, a pdf file will work, but if it's a word documents, I click to open it and a popup comes up that says 'would you like to allow Microsoft Client Visualization' or something to that effect, 'to make changes to your computer?' if I hit no, nothing happens. If I hit yes, then it starts to open Word (even if Word is already opened) and then I get at the bottom of the screen a popup that says 'internet connection was lost' and that it failed to open. However, I am not losing an internet connection. I've had this computer 18 months and this has happened for a couple months. I've tried it on IE and Chrome and neither will work, so I always have to borrow my roommate's computer to download stuff. Anyone know what is going on and how to fix it? I've cleared my cache and I believe most of my temporary internet files are deleted.

try dragging the file to an open word editor and see if it works.
I tried it, it didn't work. It looks like the problem is Word Starter 2010 won't open, but Word opens fine so I don't know why I need Word Starter to open these files with.

what is the extension on this file? Is it .doc or docx or is it some other word document extension?
If you are using Office 2010 Starter you should be able to use other alternatives. Since Starter has fewer features than the 'real' Word, you should not find any inconvenient. You could try using Wordpad (included in Windows 7, supports .docx and .rtf only), Windows Sky Drive (online Office version), Google Docs or LibreOffice. Check if any of those works well for you. If they don't we'll try to find another way to help you. Sweet sweetback’s baadasssss song download torrent.

EDIT: Another thing just occurred to me. Do I understand well from your second post that you have both Office 2010 AND Office 2010 Starter installed? If so try to uninstall Office 2010 Starter. Also, it is preferable to save the file to a known location instead of telling the browser to open it, and then go to that location and double clicking the file.
The way that the homework site is set up, the download is automatic. So I can't save it to any location, and when I did it before this started happening, the file just saved to My Documents. Now, I can find it there, but I still can't open it.
I do have both Office 2010 and Office 2010 starter..but I'm not sure which one my files are saved on. I don't want to uninstall Starter and lose everything else.
EDIT: I don't even know if that would matter. I thought I was decent enough with computers but this problem is making me doubt *everything* related to them.
Which web browser are you using? Try to right click the file in the website and select 'Save content as..', 'Save link as..' or similar, to try saving the files to the location you want.
Uninstalling a program will not delete the files created or edited with it. I want to try this in order to avoid the files being opened with Word Starter instead of the normal Word. In fact, having Office 2010 Starter is completely useless if you have the normal Office 2010. How to uninstall: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/980557
Alternatively, try to select one of those files in 'My Documents', right-click it, select 'Open With..' and look if there is a Microsoft Word 2010 entry to try to open it with it. You can force the normal Word to always open your .doc or .docx files: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307859
I have tried using Chrome, my primary browser, and then opened IE to see if that would work, and it didn't go through either.
I deleted Office Starter, and now when I click to open the file when it downloads, it says 'click to run failure'. Oh, and I don't know if this helps, but when I click to open, I get a popup that says 'Do you want Microsoft Client Virtualization to make changes to this computer?' If I say no, the download won't open. If I say yes, I get the failure notice.
OK, thanks for the info, I will look for a solution, chances are that the Office 2010 Starter is not correctly uninstalled, or that Office 2010 was installed with this new 'click and run' technology and somehow is corrupted too. I'm working on it, but please, tell me the following:
- Do you have an Office 2010 product key? (DO NOT POST IT HERE, I'll think about reinstalling Office)
- Which version is it? (e.g. Home and Student)
- If you are in a hurry, you can TEMPORARILY use AbiWord while I work in a solution. You can download a portable version here: http://portableapps.com/apps/o...d_portable and install it to your desktop, for instance. Open the AbiwordPortable.exe and go to File - Open to open your documents. It would be a good idea to backup them first. Once the problem is solved just delete the AbiwordPortable folder and installer.
- Another alternative would be LibreOffice, more complete, but a larger download. Portable version is here: http://portableapps.com/apps/o...e_portable

I'll come back when I have a solution for your Office 2010. Please post any doubts you have.
Mebe4000,
What version of office do you have installed?
Do you have 2 versions Office starter / office 2010?
Did you uninstall Starter before 2010 install?
You cannot just delete Office Starter, you would need to uninstall from Programs and Features.
If your machine came with Starter, you will need reinstall 2010 completely.
They do sit side by side and this maybe the conflict you are experiencing

Use this step-by-step guide to troubleshoot Adobe Flash Player installation issues on Windows 7 and earlier systems. Find links to helpful resources to help solve Adobe Flash Player problems.
Having trouble installing Adobe Flash Player? Identify your issue and try the corresponding solution.
1. Have you checked if Flash Player is already installed on your computer?
2. Are you being asked to close the browser?
On Internet Explorer, the installer needs to close the browser to proceed with the installation.
Follow these instructions.
![Computer will not download exe files Computer will not download exe files](/uploads/1/2/6/4/126411736/472840478.png)
Also, if an application is using an already installed version of Flash Player, the Flash Player installer can't run properly. In that case, close all open applications and try again.
3. Have you checked if Flash Player is enabled in your browser?
For Internet Explorer, see Enable Flash Player for Internet Explorer.
For Firefox on any OS, see Enable Flash Player for Firefox.
https://poweruplucid581.weebly.com/locate-my-phone-by-serial-number.html. For Safari on Mac OS, see Enable Flash Player for Safari.
For Google Chrome, see Enable Flash Player for Chrome.
For Opera, see Enable Flash Player for Opera.
4. Are you getting errors containing ActiveX issues?
Disable ActiveX filtering for Flash Player to work properly.
See How to turn ‘ActiveX filtering’ on or off in IE9, IE10, and IE11.
5. Did the installer start installing?
The Flash Player installer should prompt you to begin installation after the download is complete. If it doesn’t, you can start the installer directly from your Downloads folder.
- After downloading Flash Player, close all browsers.
- Locate the Flash Player install file. Unless you have specified otherwise, the file is saved in your Downloads folder.
- Double-click the installer file to begin the Flash Player installation.
For more assistance on locating downloaded files, see Find a file that you have downloaded and Download files from the web in Microsoft Help.
6. Are you getting permission issues?
After installing Flash Player, everything works correctly until you restart your computer. After you restart, web pages ask you to install Flash Player again.
See How do I fix Windows permission problems with Flash Player?
7. Is the Flash Player installer not launching?
You may need to update your operating system so it is compatible with the digital certificate (sha256) of the installer. The following operating systems require updates:
- Windows XP If your operating system is Windows XP and is running Service Pack 2 or below, please upgrade to Service Pack 3.
- Windows Vista If your operating system is Windows Vista SP2, download the update for your operating system from Microsoft Support.
- Windows Server 2008 If your operating system is Windows Server 2008 SP2, download the update for your operating system from Microsoft Support.
Still having problems?
If you are still having trouble installing Adobe Flash Player, try downloading the installer:
